Next Shed is the incubator and venture arm of the Eberspächer Group.

- Budget of up to 20.000€, e.g. to ramp up your prototype

Yes and no. As a venture unit of the Eberspächer Group, we see ourselves as both a strategic partner and an investor. We go beyond shareholdings to cooperate with startups in the form of pilot projects, co-developments, license agreements and partnerships.

  • What are the criteria to qualify for the challenge?

    You must be a team of at least 2 people. Your product or solution is already a prototype that you are about to test or even has first paying clients who want to measure, analyse and minimize urban noise pollution. Make sure to articulate how you would like us to support you and which next step you want to achieve.

  • Who can apply?

    Any team from any country or any background can apply. In this round though, we are focusing on ideas around urban noise pollution. Please follow us on LinkedIn for our future challenges as every challenge we have different topics and next time, it might be a topic you are working on?

  • What makes an application successful?

    First of all: you as a team! Secondly, check: Do you bring the necessary competences and motivation? Does your pitch convince with a clear proposal on how we can contribute to your next step. Do you solve a clear and relevant problem with a concrete solution? Showcase the market potential and scalability of your business model.

  • How long is the challenge?

    The application for the challenge starts Feb 8 and ends on March 1, 2021. After a week, we will notify you whether your idea has qualified. You will then have time until March 30, to prepare your pitch for the Innovation Council, who will decide on which business ideas will proceed to the next stage, get further funding, equipment, coaching etc.

  • What does the pitch deck for the application need to look like?

    You can add an introduction video or a pitch deck to your application. In general, we recommend you cover: Your motivation and competences as a team Describe the problem, your business idea, target group and potential market size Which next steps do you want to achieve and how can Eberspächer support you?

  • What is the Innovation Council?

    The Innovation Council consists of our board members Martin Peters, Dr. Thomas Waldhier and Dr. Jörg Schernikau plus one external guest. They are experienced managers who are eager to help innovative ideas become reality and support to be successful.

  • What stage do we need to be for the challenge?

    Ideally, you have a clear idea of your business model plus prototype that you are testing or you might already have first paying clients. This challenge is not for you if you are in the ideation phase right now and still exploring possible solutions.

  • When do I know if my product or solution has passed the qualification?

    After you submitted your idea, the team at Next Shed will evaluate every idea and select up to 10 ideas. Last year, about 40% of ideas have qualified and were entered into the pitch phase.

  • Is the pitch in person or online?

    We are generally holding the pitch with the Innovation Council at Eberspächer Group in Esslingen. However, last year we organized a virtual event due to the current situation. We will inform the qualified teams in time.

  • Where do I get all the information I need for the challenge?
